I saw a video on CNN of a 05 or newer GT that got hit by ice. I guess it's a good thing my mustangs never leave the garage.

The last time I saw something like this was back in Lancaster County and a chunk fell through the roof of a barn and killled a cow!!!! Is that when pilots his the anti -ice button? The plane just chucks off the ice???

I doubt a chunk that size is from airframe Icing.

The purpose of anti ice is to heat the surface to prevent ice formation.

We use this on the leading edge of the wings, engine nacelles, windows, pitot static probes etc.

Some smaller aircraft have and inflatable leading edge boots that pop the ice off when activated, but there is no way to have a 50lb chunk.

The only thing I could thing of is somehow the ice accumulated on the drain mast. The sink water goes drains out the bottom of the plane.
But a 50lb chunk seems excessive.

I used to think that when you took a dump on a plane it just shot out the back!!!!:sticktonge:

The number 1 and 2 is stored in a container that is pumped into a Lav Truck when we land.
We call the Lav truck the honey wagon.
