Heres a low quality photo of how the dual FPDM was set up in the trunk.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q282/M_C_john/IMG_0053.jpg

As of Nov 21st I just got word the Vortech headunit arrived from being rebuilt with the upgraded impeller. A couple pipes need to be mocked to set up the MAF and BOV locations for welding and powdercoating. Once that is finished it will get tuned for the break-in miles...A similar motor build with T-56 and stage 3 heads with a smaller cam pulled 575 hp with 17lbs of boost on 91 octane...I'm thinking mine will pull in the 550 range with 15-16lbs of boost, not sure what the 3.1" pulley and overdrive crank will make at 6500 rpms.

Almost done. I started the parts ordering back in April of this year and the motor was assembled in late August but some things happened and put my plans on hold for about a month. Overall happy with the progress.

Also, I have a bunch of stuff that will be up for sale soon.

That happened 2 times before I fixed the problem. Powersteering pump pulley was the culprit and swapped pump and pulley no more belt shredding and upgraded to a braided stainless steel oil feed.

Thanks.

Just got word this morning that all the piping is finished being test fitted and are now getting the maf and BOV flanges welded before powder coating. Thinking it will hit the rollers next week.

BurnTire, you run e-85. Did you buy PTFE hose or non-teflon coated rubber line. I have 80lb injectors going on the car instead of 60's and plan on having a E-85 tune but the shop who does the tuning only recommends teflon hose. I found aeroquip hose and its decent deal but just dont want to have issues further down the line from the ethanol eating the rubber. Some people say fragola weeps fuel odor while others say it doesnt.

Haha, if there were a cookie to give you earned it

That is their dyno. Car pulled 394 hp and 400 tq SAE back in December 2009. Baseline was 380 with a mail order 91 octane tune and ran 12.30's at 110 at speedworld. After Devin worked out all the transmission (ECM controlled) kinks I was able to run 11.9's at 116. With the new motor and bigger horsepower I hope to hit at least a 10.9X between 126-130 mph...I only have a 26" tire right now and I dont expect it to stick at all but I will give it a try. Also will try to do this without a transbrake and computer shifted transmission, lofty goals maybe for theoretical 550hp, 3200lb car.

Aeroquip TFE -8. It will not weep ever.

I have used ever other type of rubber crap and it all weeps.

I have an aeromotive E-85 fuel filter. Stock Rails and the Ford 80lbs Injectors.
Twin GT pumps with a KB BAP.

Nice build
Would suggest getting rid of that OEM plastic intake...
Bullitt flows great under boost but there are other better options out there now-a-days too! Lots of real nice custom fab high-rise units, Sullivan performance, BBK....
Anyway, good stuff man!

I figure I would have to pay the premium price to run E-85. I will definately need the larger fuel line to keep DC in check. Hopefully, I wont need a BAP. I also found that aeroquip hose and fittings are cheaper on the aeroquip website. I have a parts list for a -8 line, fuel filter, Y-block -8 inlet 2 -6 outlet, division x fuel rails...the fittings holy crap the 90* and 45* bends are expensive. I priced out the reuseable fittings not the push lock...Still up in the air about those. I will need to adjust my choice from their race lite hose to the TFE hose. Which is more expensive per ft.

The plastic intake performs pretty well and has proven itself to make 600 hp with pump gas timing and boost levels on a few other 2 valves that this shop built. The car that made 575hp had a slow ECM because it basically stopped processing data after 5600 rpms, lol, but the intake did cork up a little on the top end. (The ECM didnt crash it just took too long to record info after a certain rpm and the tuner had to work around that) I replaced my ECM with a 2004 Mustang GT because it has the faster processor over my 2000 ECM so I shouldnt run into any issues. However, I am curious to see how the PI intake does. I should have a linear HP curve because I run a centri supercharger but if HP starts to taper off in the upper RPMs I will know that the PI intake needs to be switched out. That will be the only bottleneck since the 3.1 pulley and 10% overdrive will not put the vortech over its max rpm at my expected rev limit of 6500.

More to come in the next week or two.

If I do change it out I will most likely get the the TFS trackheat intake manifold. Going to stick with a longer runner design to keep as much low end torque as I can. The eldebrock is a great piece and has huge gains for what it costs but the torque curve moves from 4500 peak to around 5500 peak. I also dont plan on running 7k+ rpms which is where the short runner intakes really shine.

You can't use push lock with the TFE I have listed above. You have to use the TFE fittings. Yes they are pricey, but you can install it and forget about it. And it does not weep.

Well, that takes care of that question about fittings.

I got it from Cervini a few years ago after someone backed into my car in a parking lot...No note was left, dirtbags.

haha, never gonna happen. Closest thing to street tires on this car are 555r's...

Stanger,

The shop I bought the motor from is doing the tuning as well. I live in California now, I left Arizona when I was forced out of the Air Force last June. The shop is called Advanced Engine Development in Cameron Park CA.

Stanger00

Kicked down to 2nd gear while decel after a 3rd gear pull to 7k rpm pull. Motor spun over 9k rpms.

Damn AF guys.....

I'm out of the AF now :pinkthumb:

Did the contractor thing in Iraq for a company called URS Corp on a sub-contract that was formally known as LSI working on Merlin IV aircraft...I was the AGE guy and a trainee to get my A license. Cool job but wasnt for me. I resigned after 10 months. Currently, full time student at a Tech school getting a Bachelors in electronic engineering.

T56. That is all ;)

I wanted to do this but with everything that I need to change out it will break the bank because of the blown motor I have to factor in now.

How did the transmission do that?

I got a 'story' of what happened. Either the transmission failed and the valve body kicked the car into second gear while it was decelerating from 7k rpms or something else happened...I wasnt there to witness what happened. The potential causes after the tuner did some research is the tune on the chip was bad and didnt lock 3rd gear, probable...The chip lost its connection with the ECU causing the ECU to reset while the car was still running (this has never happened in the 2 years its been in my car)...If the ECU resets because of this the transmission will change gears because of the valve body I have in my transmission.

I am still having a difficult time wrapping my head around all of this but its what I have been told. The transmission has been in my car since 2006 and is a trouble free unit from Performance Automatic. I'm going to assume that something internally let go in the transmission and caused this to happen...

Next, I may just have Darrin (BC Automotive rebuild the 4R70W) Circle D re-stall and put in a multi disk clutch and buy a FRPP Aluminator block for a 4 valve. The TFS heads will raise its 8.5:1 compression to 8.7ish but I wont make the same power as the other motor that was in the car. This is the cheapest route and parts alone will break the $5k range, FML. Will just sell my 2007 ZX6R to fund this.

Words dont describe how I feel about this...keeping details light. May seek counsel since I never filled out liability documents when leaving my car at the shop its currently at. Waiting to hear back from the shop to see how extensive the engine damage is...The guy believes the short block is done but also thinks there may be some damage to the valves...All I heard was cha-ching this cha-ching that etc. etc...

This is the first I heard of something like this happening at this place. This year alone I know of 4 other mustangs that left their shop as happy customers and they all spent a little more than I have at this point.

The transmission going into 2nd gear doesnt make sense to me at all. The chip losing electrical connection to the ECU doesnt make sense to me at all. I see your point and I share the same sentiment. <---that statement is all speculation on my part. Will probably only keep this thread going with updated information as it becomes available to me.

After sending the transmission to BC Automotive we found out that it cavitated and locked up the drums and essentially killed itself and the motor. Performance Automatic sold me an old 4r70w case with a short pan and inside it had parts that said "bad" on them. Somehow it held itself together at 400hp and torque at the wheel for nearly 6 years.

In the end. I had to get the heads decked a couple valves replaced (Machinists in Nor-Cal are scumbags and charge by the hour). Bought a WAP aluminator with 03-04 compression. Have a built BC Automotive 4R70W, thanks Darrin, and lastly a Circle D multi-disk converter stalled for 3200 but will most likely flash around 3500.

3 weeks ago the car was back under its own power but as it was on the dyno oil got into the cooling system! I was told after they removed the heads that gaskets were not matched and needed new ones. I bought gaskets that the tuner told me to buy and I bought OEM MLS 03-04 Cobra gaskets but the oil ports are different. The cobra have a oval oil inlet whereas the trickflows are triangular. Oh and the felpro trickflows are about $200 cheaper.

Yesterday June 18th I called for an update. My car has been running for about a week now but the tuner is on vacation until later this week. Maybe this Thursday or Friday I will get a phone call with good news.
