Do you still have the stock radiator? Is your fan kicking on?

it gets warm enough to shut the a/c off then i stop and let it cool down. but it has climbed to about 3/4 the way up before.

On the stock gauge? That shouldn't be happening. Flushed the coolant recently?
Get a Reische 170 t-stat and flush the system. Use water wetter too: http://reischeperformance.com/
Make sure to follow the burping procedure or else the car will over heat
AFCO is developing a dual fan attachment

I never have my car get that hot with the stock rad. I have the Reische 170 t-stat with Water Wetter.

Did you burp and fill the system thru the crossover? I like to burp the system with the front end on ramps.

Yep must not of burped it correctly. It will overheat if you arent careful. My buddy made it 2 miles before his overheated

Could easily be that and/or the highspeed isn't coming on.
