View Full Version : How my car has made me HATE it

So, since I have owned my car I have run into a lot of issues. We have had our ups and downs. This week pushed me over the edge. Below is the list of things I have had to repair this week and after that is some other stuff I have had to do over the few LONG years together.

This week:
-Radiator (for the 2nd time). It just randomly started leaking, didn't hit anything just started leaking. $200 plus coolant and the dealer wanted $688 for the radiator
-Cooling fan resistor (this is what controls what speed the fan turns at) $68 DEALER ONLY
-Idler pulley grenaded itself for no reason taking the belt with it at 4:45 pm Saturday. Picture will be below. Pulley + belt = $92
-Saturday night went out to Westgate for my friends birthday. Come back out and someone decided to put two screwdriver sized holes in the sidewalls of each of my BRAND NEW <1500 mile rear tires. $400 in tires

Since I have owned it:
-Intercooler pump, which went out on a Saturday night at 11pm on the way to New Mexico. That melted the intercooler tank and when my friend unloaded it off the trailer ripped the front bumper off. Don't remember the entire cost for this one but even with good friend discounts on parts it was A LOT.
-Alternator (3 times) Thank god after the 2nd time I got the one with the lifetime warranty
-IRS reseal 3 times. For anyone who can't do this themselves this is not a cheap fix.
-A clutch that not only grenaded itself but took the tube that covers the input shaft with it $1k just in parts to get the thing back on the road.

Not to mention that the AC hasn't worked pretty much since I got it. Within the past 2 months I have put $300 into getting that fixed which has done a total of jack crap. This DBS car has flat out pushed me over the edge and into flat out HATRED for it. I don't want it anymore and as soon as humanly possible I will be trading it in.

Wow you've pretty much been through every flaw the Cobra has from the factory

I don't get the tire slashing thing...what is with people?!? If you have an issue with me I would rather you face me and take a shot. It's so chickenshite to slash your tires. That really bugs me, had it happen to me 3 times back in Minnesota. Turns out some kid had a crush on my kids girlfriend. Even with video, the cops never did a thing but talk to the kid. I ended up moving half way across the country before it all stopped.

I don't know what their deal is. My thoughts are that because I parked it in the boonies at westgate was that someone hoped I would leave it there overnight and steal it by the time I got back with new tires.

No we are good. I got another one on there, just wasn't happy about putting all that money into the car this week just to have a piece of steel shredded by a piece of rubber.

DBS is how it happens...

O well the Cobra has been replaced. 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T. Its nothing too special, but it had 11.2 miles when I drove it away from the dealership. Plus it has a warranty and so many fewer headaches. The only picture I have right now is a crappy cell phone pic

Traded it in? Curious what they are offering these days. I saw KBB and NADA both raise Cobra values a little bit

I owed 13,700 on it. Gave me like 12k on the trade but rolled the negative equity in. Well worth it in my eyes.

You owed 13K on your car and now you just went out and bought a brand new car w/ negative equity rolled into it. So now you owe $30+K on a brand new car, which you lost your shirt on the second you drove it off the lot. You more than doubled your car debt in a day.

You spend 5K or so on vehicle services throughout the last few years. You're sick of dealing w/ problems w/ the car and the "cost" of it. So your remedy is to go out and double your vehicle debt and cost yourself about 8K the second you drove it off the lot. I guess I'm failing to see "worth it" part.

Nice car, though. :)

I knew certain things about the car that I won't mention until my loan is completely funded. That should be tomorrow

It doesn't matter what was wrong w/ the car; you could've re-built the entire car from the ground up for waaaaaay less than you paid for this thing.
