I was test driving a '05 GT, doing about 35MPH, then I stomped on it.
There was a BIG delay, no rev, no kickdown, felt like bad turbo lag - then it took off...

Is this something a tune can fix, or is this a car I should stay away from???

It's pretty hot - but I've only got $17000 to spend, so I'm looking for stock GT's

Welcome to drive by wire. Luckily it can be fixed in the tune. My in my 2010 F-150 you can stab the throttle to the floor and let off before it responds.

OK, you're talking to an old timer here(sort of!). I'm just understanding the concept of tuners (not used to tuning without opening the hood!).

So, I should be able to quicken the throttle response, up the shift points, and increase the shift firmness with a tuner????
I'm looking at a SCT SF3 w/CAI combo. Good choice?

Yup, they have all kinds of other features, too like raising the redline, adjusting the speedo when you put the 4.10's in, you can disable thetraction control, ect. There are tons of vendors selling the SCT Xcal 3 with a CAI.

You can get into an 03/04 Cobra for that these days....Think about it.....Saw one the other day with 260k miles. They last forever if maintained...

Actually my buddy is talking about selling his 04 Screaming Yellow Cobra like mine, higher mileage but he was asking less than $17k....Its here in Tucson if he hasnt sold it yet

To fix the (Lag) on the 2005 to 2009 Mustangs its an easy step... Turn the key on and let all the gauges computer etc set up do not start the car. Slowly press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor, you will here cpu adjust the steps and then shut the car off. Start it back up and take off.. Ta Da, reset, the lag should be all gone...
