So I received a pair of Prothane motor mounts (red) for Christmas. I am getting ready to attack the job soon and have been reading several threads about these.

I have read that they raise the engine a little; read that they lower it a little; read that they do neither. I contacted Prothane and the gentleman said that the engine remains the same. He also stated that there is no difference between the red ones or black ones.

Those of you that have done this, do you know for sure? I am asking because I would like to have just a tad more clearance between my tower brace and plenum cover.

I have also read that some users machined then down a bit. One last thing; is there an engine centering issue?? Is that why the directions state to do one mount at a time and not both at once?

Too much info for just a motor mount swap.

Thanks to all in advance.

You would have to place your current mounts next to the new ones and measure to see if there is any difference.

I can tell you that they raise the engine for sure. About 1/4" or so. We have had a local machine shop take off 3/8" when doing a Saleen Super Shaker install because the shaker keeps the hood from closing when using these mounts. Without them this is not an issue. Hope this helps :pinkthumb:

yes Busted, thank you for taking the time to advise. I think I will have my local machine shop take that 3/8" off the top just to be on the safe side.
